Can the essay make the composite go up??? Anyone know??

@circle22 - The essay can only hurt your grades, bad luck

1debater, let’s cry ourselves to sleep together…=((((((((((

What does the essay do to the composite, this was my first time with the ACT…

Ugh. NOT HAPPY.
But I’m really going to focus on studying for the October one.
This ACT test will NOT beat me!

26 Composite
E 27
M 23
R 27
S 27
E/W 26/8

33 Composite. I’m pretty happy with this except my science score was kinda meh. I got a 32 in science this time but I got a 35 on the June one but anyways 36 in both English and Reading so I’ll survive. Plus I’m taking it again in October.

sigh
the same score
AGAIN…

well, at least my superscore is a point higher than my actual score…
oh that science section… >.<

ahhhhh i improved:
english +6 pts!
math +0
reading +3
science -2

composite +2! I’m happy! :)

June: 31 Composite, 34 E 26 M 34 R 30 S

Now: 34 Composite, 35 E 31 M 36 R 32 S

HIGHLY recommend the red book and Barron’s 36.

I feel that I really well considering that I felt like I completely bombed all parts save English and Reading.

Yes!
C: 33 (+2)
e: 34 (+3)
m: 34 (+1)
r: 31 (+2)
s: 32 (+1)

I was seriously like, “whatever the score, I am not taking this crap again”
But I was hoping that it would be just one point higher, and now I am honestly considering taking it again in october. bleh. to take or not to take?

ACT-we are not friends anymore.

and the essay has no affect on composite score

just going to sleep.
to all of those who aren’t happy with their scores either:
we can get past this! october here i come!

M- 36
E - 34
R - 31
S - 35

C - 34

Guess I should just stick to the SAT…

I feel you guys’ pain because even though I’m happy with this score this was my THIRD time taking it because I was not happy with my other scores. But this time I was way calmer. I’m going to tell you guys what I told myself.

GUYS:

Remember that scores aren’t EVERYTHING. People with 36’s get denied ALL of the time frome big universities, and people with a score you may consider low get accepted all of the time. Instead of dwelling on the unchangeable, try to better other type of your app like your essays or your interviews. And NO MATTER WHAT HAPPENS, you know you were up on CC stressing over answers, finding out best ways to study, staying up until 1am or 12 am (wtv time zone it is where you live) just to see you score. YOU KNOW you tried your best. and that is really, and I’m not trying to be corny, but it’s really all that matters.

Hope this helped.
Good night everyone :)

how does the essay affect the composite?

guys idk who told you that… the essay does not affect your composite score at all. It says that right on the score page.

Yeah, but then how do colleges read your score after the essay?
how does it work?
