@carbon
I know what you mean…got an 18 and a 17 on English, and got a 34. And I got a 17 and a 17 on Reading, and got a 33. Don’t understand how that works…the curve must have been tough.
Anyway, E: 34, R: 33, S: 29 (had to guess on last 5 cause of time), M: 23, C: 30
Think I know what I need to work on!

Totally was not expecting that :D

You ppl hav no idea how lucky you are. I was informed last friday that my test was misadministrated (2 teenage girls supervised us and shut the room close, leaving us all by ourselves…), that i had to retake the thing over again last satuday (talking about short-noticed). Sitting for another 4 hrs gave me butt cramps, not to mention that i wont get my score for another week or MORE!!! But it was denitely worth it though, everything…EVERYTHING was easier and I share the september curve with you guys: expecting good things. Thank you jesus.

@carbon same here, i got 35 and 18 and 18 subscores too.

Oh- I got my essay score: 7 on essay, 31 Combined English/Writing (35 on english originally)

I envy all of you who got 31+. My scores are over the place but my composite is 30.

R 23
E 27
M 33
S 36

8 Writing, 26 Combined Writing/English

I totally expected like a 28 or 29, now I’m so happy. I took 4 practice tests, first time I took one I got 26 composite and 20 for Reading. I hope I improve for the October ACT!

Daughter is very happy with her 33 from this Sept 2011 exam! Her reading score improved dramatically from extensive prep on her own over the summer and we are so excited about that. Ironically, she is really a math and science student, yet her Sept scores make her look more like a reading type. Funny! Anyhow, is it worth sending her April 2011 score in addition to her Sept 2011 score which shows 1 point higher in both math and science even if the superscore is still 33 (she needs 1 more point for superscore to be 34)? Thanks in advance!

First time taking it and was not expecting anything near that! I guess the hours of prep paid off!

@maureenk, not really, the only upside is her science score is 1 point down. I believe most colleges superscore however.

This isn’t particularly true. There’s a limited number of colleges that superscore.

This is from 2010, but it should provide you with a general idea.

I’m pleased with my score:

Composite - 36
English - 35
Math - 35
Reading - 36
Science - 36

Puzzled why an 18 and 18 is a 35 in English. I’d understand if it was a 34 and there were 40 questions or if it was a 36 and there were 36, but were the subsections 18 and 19?

My sophomore scored a 34 composite with scores of 36 English, 36 Science, 33 Math and 32 Reading. Unfortunately, the PSAT/SAT is more important for scholarships. What do you think the likelihood is of him scoring over 215 on the PSAT? I think that is what he’d need in our state.

My son is still waiting for his results, hopefully his won’t take until Nov. 4th!

composite: 21 yeah! boiiiiiii

Ive taken it four times now:
1st: 32
2nd: 30
3rd: 32
4th (sept 2011) : 34

Superscore was already a 34, but I had all but completely lost hope of reaching my goal of a true 34, so im very happy.

Carbon, keep in mind, your 18’s don’t have any arithmetic relationship to your 36 subscore. It’s some wonky math, but I think it has to do with the fact that the 18-scores are broken up into 18 levels and the 36-scores are broken up into- well, 36 levels. My point is, you can be in the top level of both subsections and not be in the top .05% (or whatever) that you see on your English score.

Also, not to one-up you, but my scores were:
Composite - 36
English - 36
Math - 36
Reading - 36
Science - 36

Unfortunately, my writing was scored at a SEVEN, which marks “developing writing skills,” even though the comment said “adequately supported main general statements with reasons, examples and details… maintained focus on issue in prompt.” Which drags my Writing-English score all the way down to 31, which pretty much ruins the whole test for me- it’s not even better than my 2330 SAT now. :

Wow that’s amazing and disappointing at the same time. Congrats on the straight 36s though!

Yeah. The whole 51st percentile thing was really a steaming turd-Maraschino on my 36-sundae.

Though I’d share since I posted in the post-ACT thread:

Composite: 35
R: 35
M: 36
W: 35
S: 33 <<< haha, totally expected this, ah well.
Essay: 10 <<< I actually have no idea how good that is, but I assume it’s fine. General comment were basically good but not great.

What I’m really surprised about is that I actually got a 36 in Math, seeing that it was the worst section all three times I took the Real ACT practice tests. xD But I’m not complaining. It seems that the Real ACT tests were actually a pretty accurate prediction, just not in the right subjects…

Good job to everyone, 36 or otherwise! (:

I should re-take ACT…
