Actual YYAS Help

Hi once again, I got the essay prompts for 2018 YYAS program and here they are:
Essay 1:Please tell us about the factors that have influenced you the most and how they have shaped you. (500 word limit)

Essay 2:What is something that you find fascinating and are interested in exploring? (200 word limit)

Essay 3:If you could change one thing about your community, what would it be and why? (200 word limit)

Essay 4: What does it mean to be African in the 21st Century? You may draw upon your own or others’ experiences of culture, politics, language or other concepts locally, regionally or internationally. (250 word limit)
I would really like to be enlightened especially on Essay 3 and 4-for Essay 4, I have been to another African country, can that be the foundation of the essay or something?, and I would like to have some striking introductions. Please PM me your ideas

Thanks

None of us can tell you which prompt is best for you; only you can do that.

What I would do is set a timer for 5 minutes per prompt. Then brainstorm any idea at all that’s remotely related to the topic.

Your trip can absolutely be a big part of Essay 4. You can talk about the similarities you saw between your culture and theirs, and the differences you saw. You can talk about how we could all afford to learn from each other as part of a global community.

But if you’re an American citizen, I wouldn’t try to act as though I knew what it was to be African, in this century or any other. The reality is that many of our life experiences are pretty uniquely ours, just as theirs are uniquely theirs, We each face our own challenges and rewards.

Thanks and I’m an African.

So, I was thinking if I could write Essay 2 on a concept such as history or math or even Medicine, will that sound okay?

I would be more specific. Not “medicine” but “new treatments to fight CF” or something.

Or something not really related to your academic path. For me it would be storms… I’m a total weather geek and watch the weather channel all the time. Kind of unexpected for someone who typically hates science.
