How is tuition actually paid? Sorry for the dumb-sounding question. Is it payed in one chunk payment or in installments?

Usaually you are billed by the term. Payment must be received before the term begins.

The college will bill you teice, once for each semester. It is easy to set up an account with a third party company that will spread the payments for you. One is AMS Tuition Pay. You can make payments in ten installemtns or less.

Okay thank you all. Since its a lot more than my school now, I wouldn't want the parents to get one huge bill. That makes a lot more sense.

It depends on the college. My older son's private college billed by the quarter, although you could set up payment plans to pay monthly. My second son's public university bills by the month, although the first payment is a bit larger than the others.
