I have recently joined the theater/forensics program and the Mock Trial team at my school.

I have made the Mock Trial as a varsity, which is the first time that a first year student has done so. We are a state-level team.

In my first theater competition, which was last week, I received an award and qualified for a state-level competition.

Although these extracurriculars are relatively new, I severely lack awards in my application. Luckily, I think they reflect my interest in public speaking. Should I email the colleges that I've applied to and update my resume?

You might want to call the schools and ask if you can submit that information as an addendum to an already submitted resume, or as supplementary to your app. Overall, I think the activities won’t make or break your app, especially because you’ll only be varsity for a semester until you graduate (right?), but it’s still worth giving it a shot

*Also, I’m not too sure about this, but you may be able to get your GC to put something on your mid-year report about the EC’s. Still, safest bet is to call the school’s admissions offices (they don’t bite), and ask them what they recommend you should do. Best of luck!
