Additional essays- harvard supplement

<p>Can someone explain to me what should I wrte in the additional essays section of the harvard supplement?</p>

<p>I mean is it optional first of all or required? Secondly, can I just write some additional information for me or I must write an essay with one of the "possible topics"? Can I choose another topic of my choice for that essay?</p>

<p>If you are serious about getting in Harvard you had better write it :P</p>
