Additional Recommendation Letter

<p>Hi everyone,</p>

<p>I wanted to send an extra letter of recommendation (from my research advisor) to the private schools that I am applying to. As I understand, he has to directly mail it to the college with my full name and date of birth on it. My question is, does it matter if the letter of recommendation that he sends arrives at the college before i submit my application? Will they start my file with that letter, and then add my application once I submit it(before the deadline of course). Thanks!</p>

<p>I think they add the letter and add to it, but don’t read it until after the deadline and it’ll still be with the other recs. I believe that’s what the Dartmouth admissions officer told me… it may vary, though. :)</p>
