<p>When you have a better deal from another school and school matches it,
do you think school that matched will give you same money in next year, or is it for freshman year only?</p>
<p>My school awarded me an additional grant, and gave the same package this year as well. However, it does vary school to school and person to person.</p>
<p>That's something you need to confirm with the school prior to enrolling. Some awards are guaranteed for four years, some are not. If your FA package is substantially need-based, it WILL change if your family's financial circumstances change.</p>
<p>Merit-based awards, on the other hand, vary by each award, and you should check with the school to ensure that it is a 4-year (or whatever) guaranteed award, and if it's not, be sure to realize there'll be a gap where that used to be if there isn't any need to fill it when it's gone.</p>
