Hope this isn’t a redundant question… Where/hoe do I send mail/address letters to my appointee during BCT?

Basic Cadet ____ ____
_____ Squadron ______ Flight
USAF Academy, CO 80840

I think that is the address. Not sure how you find out which squadron/flight they are in, I think you can call someone.

Or you can have them write you with their PO Box # and squadron/flight info.

Can't remember fully but this is what I came up with when I tried to remember...

the way that's in our booklets is similar

Basic Cadet ____ ____
PO BOX ___
USAF Academy, CO 80840

Last year, we were told to use the method HNeedle described, and it worked just fine for me. Your PO Box number should be listed in your appointee kit.

Thank you... I do have the PO Box # and I wanted to make out pre addressed envelopes for his party before he leaves for others to write him... I appreciate your responses.

I don't know if you even need Basic Cadet. I received mail that only had my name on it. Then again, that was from another basic. How the cadre ever let that one slip, I'll never know. I assumed I would've gotten grilled for "pen-palling" with soemome of the opposite gender. I just totally remembered that.
Anyways... HNeedle's way is the way I think most people sent mail.

General [basic's name]
USAFA

That should get some extra attention.
Tell the addressor to send in pink envelope.
Tell the addressor to write on the outside "Cadre sucks"
Tell the addressor to write on the outside "2012 rules"

I am all for having fun, but dude I have a hunch that you dont have the guts to pull any of your suggested stunts... :)

If ya do, well then you will make I-Day memorable for the rest of us... ;)

PS. What class are you applying for?

Can't tell if your post was directed at me....if so....

I wasn't part of any class
I wrote to several cadets over the years during BCT and their 4 degree year.
In each instance (I don't do it anymore) I asked BEFORE BCT whether they wanted the plain white treatment or something more creative. In each instance where they wanted the latter I gave them permission to call a halt to the creatvity. Not one asked for me to stop the creativity. Of course I only had so much time to write during their respective BCTs so it amounted to perhaps once or twice a week. The creativity wasn't top notch either.

One '06er received a box of BIG RED gum...she had a VERY memorable story as a result. A basic in her flight had a VERY memorable story as a result. Her flight, as a matter of fact, had a memorable LAUGH as a result ("Sir, if we promise to consume the gum while naked, may we have it?"...regs stating can't chew gum while in uniform).

I stopped sending candy because it typically got confiscated and never distributed (even when I sent enough for cadre and squadron). Color coded envelopes or slogans based on the color of the particular class of Basic. RTB for the Red class etc. Stickers, (including some with naked women/men). It was all in fun and I never heard a Basic complain that the consequence was too much attention such that they asked me to stop.

I agree it IS up to the particular basic. It is his/her experience.
