I was curious -if I'm admitted to Berkeley MCB and Stanford Biosciences, am I pretty much accepted into their programs, or is there some post-interview weeding of applicants that takes place? And now for the big question: does anybody know what % of students who are granted interviews are finally accepted into these programs? Not sure if anybody knows, but if you do, it would be great.

There is more weeding at Stanford than at Berkeley, although at Stanford the acceptance rates vary by program. The number I heard was that about 60% of those interviewed at Stanford were accepted; the number was higher at Berkeley (probably closer to 75-80%).

Wow, impressive that you know the statistics! Where'd you get the numbers from, if you don't mind me asking?

If anybody knows this would be helpful- post interview admission rates at
UNC BBSP
Duke Microbiology
Vanderbilt IGP

Just from my own interviews there -- you'll often hear approximate numbers from faculty members or (less reliably) other interviewees. You can also figure a rough percentage yourself post-interview based on the results of people you meet.
