Admission decision

I was not offered admission to UP for a major in art (start and finish UP) but the decision says “A Penn state education is still available to you”. Does this mean definitely 2+2 program? Or maybe another chance at UP if I ask to change to DUS.

probably the 2+2. You can try to change to DUS but I think DUS is probably also full now. What are your stats?

Hi jlhpsu! Stats are GPA: 3.25 SAT: 1191 so clearly it’s a bit of a reach, and if it matters at all I’m also a legacy. (And if it means anything, my essays they are strong and I’m OOS). So 2+2 seems certain (if I am accepted at all). I have one more question, I was denied as an Art major, but I would also be more than willing to major in Art history (Start at any campus, finish UP). If I was already denied from a major in that academic college, choosing another one in the same one isn’t very wise right? Thank you for replying

I Also have strong classes, several IB courses, and most students who were accepted from my high school in the past were lower stat students, there was a student last year with a 3.2 GPA and 910 SAT, got into UP.

Generally a 3.2 GPA applying after priority is an admit to a commonwealth campus regardless of the major. You can call and ask if there is anything you can do for UP but my feeling at this stage is no.
I’d take the 2+2 if psu is where you want. You can major in almost anything and finish at UPitt (with some notable accepting like nursing, etc)

I called and asked to change my major to art history and my campus choice to Altoona, they said I should receive an update this coming week

Great! I’m sure you will have no problem with Altoona. We were just there for accepted students day today (my son is going there in the fall). They said that the housing may show “waiting list” but not be discouraged as they do move through the waiting list. Also, they have 5 apartment complexes they work with where you can both sign a lease with them AND be on the waiting list at Altoona, and if you get housing at Altoona, the apartment complexes will rip up your lease. So, if you don’t get housing right away, check with the off campus housing office for where those complexes are. That way you can wait for housing on campus, but have an off campus back up ready.

Awesome! Thank you!

I visited last weekend for an accepted student day, the campus is wonderful! I also visited main that day too since my cousin goes there and my mom is an alum, I love the atmosphere between the two, I’m very excited to start this fall!. Oh and there was no waiting list for girls dorms so I was able to complete a housing contract.

@tumbriel Great! See it all works out  When we were there they said the boys dorms were almost full but the girls still had room, so I’m so glad you were still able to get housing! Altoona is a really pretty campus and the nice thing is it is so close to main campus that it’s pretty easy to be involved at both.
