Admission for Florida State University

Hello everyone, I was just wonding what my chances are of getting into FSU with my credentials. Here they are!

ACT: 24

GPA: 3.6

Extracurricular Activities: Basketball freshman and sophomore year.

50 hours of volunteer service

Have work experience for over a year

Look at the school’s academic profile from its website and decide for yourself.

This isn’t really enough to go on.

Are you in state or out of state?

Is that 3.6 GPA weighted, unweighted, or recalculated for FSU?

How many Honors/AP/IB/Dual Enrollment/AICE/etc. classes have you taken?

I’ve taken 2 honors classes and 1 dual enrollment class

You really need to raise that ACT score. Your EC’s are lacking as well. I’d say you have a slim chance to get into the Fall term. You might be able to get into the Summer term if you raise your test scores and have some more EC’s.
FSU’s website shows the average incoming freshman profile here: http://admissions.fsu.edu/freshman/
Also, we need to know if you’re in state and if your listed GPA is weighted or unweighted.

I was admitted for the summer term this year with almost the same stats as you.

GPA: 3.6 Weighted
Act: 24

I am very pleased to have been admitted to FSU and I have enrolled here and I start in 18 days for the summer term. I think I was admitted because of my extracurricular activities and the known prestige of my high school. Every course at my high school is all honors courses and a few AP. I took 6 hours of Dual-Enrollment and I have 30 credits of Honors courses. I also took 3 years of a foreign language, 5 years of math, and 5 years of Science. I am an Eagle Scout and I have 113.50 hours of community service. On my essay, I wrote about my friend who was LGBT and how I was not accepting of it at first, but I grew to accept it by the time I started high school. Also, I am from Tennessee and I am sure they wanted more diversity on campus. I am participating in the First Year Abroad program in Spain, where if I take 36 hours and earn a 3.0 GPA, I can qualify for in-state tuition.

If I were you, I would apply for the summer term and show a rigorous senior schedule. Also, you should have more community service hours. I would aim for a least 100 and I would write a good essay. I think you have a chance. I wish you the best of luck. DM if you have any questions. I will be happy to answer them. Go Seminoles!

is the FSU “first year abroad” program an option?
