Admission geeks , need help!

so i found EU business school MUNICH - FOUNDATION program , but you earn credits for attending it.

i am not continuing studies there, i am going there just for preparation for US. Will it create problems? i want to apply as a freshman in US.

Yes, it will create problems for you if you try to apply as a freshman to the US. Attending this school would make you a transfer applicant, which in addition to being tougher admissions-wise also means less aid is available to you.

Agree with above.

@Lindagaf @yonceonhismouth

thanks for the answers. so i should find foundation program without credits.

No- if you want to apply as a freshman applicant, you cannot take any courses beyond the high school level.

@yonceonhismouth thank you, so i will try to do volunteering abroad whole year

@yonceonhismouth by the way im still curious , if you dont get any credits, why would i be considered for transfer?

It’s a foundation program IE., pre-college. You mostly learn German plus some classes that’d be first year in the US but are remedial in Germany.
So you wouldn’t have college credits,.and could apply as a freshman.

@MYOS1634 are you really sure? i messaged USC (UNIVERSITY OF SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA) told them that im going to PG year program and that i earn credits (30 ECTS) doing that program, and they told me that i wont be eligible to apply as freshman. .-.

what if i fail it on purpose? i dont know how CREDITs work, can you like fail it?

Why would you waste money (i assume this program costs money)?

If it’s a PG program or a Foundation year, it’s precollege. However the university likely gives you a few credits if you stay there or perhaps by national agreement, kind of like dual enrollment. But it’s NOT a freshman year because it is not the first year of German university.
(BTW 30 ECTS is 15 credits.)

Email to say you’d be doing a PG for internationals who need to learn German, called a Foundation Year or StudienKolleg, where they also include any remedial instruction needed to start in first year at a German university. Would they consider you a freshman or a transfer?

@yonceonhismouth you have a point… answer is simple and WEIRD at the same time

my parents don’t want me take gap year without studying so , that’s the answer

they didn’t let me send applications to US this year because its “far” and i was not old enough, but they’ wanted me to go to EUROPE. “go to US for masters” at some point i wanted to go to amsterdam, but hell no , i am not going abroad for studying exclusively. there are tons of things that matter to me, US is definitely better choice for me

@MYOS1634 wish i knew bit of german lol…

@MYOS1634 im not german or living in germany haha

by the way site says 20 CH or 30 ECTS

That’s the point. That’s why you can do a Foundation Year.

@yonceonhismouth : Foundation years in Germany are free.

@MYOS1634 in certain unis yea. but in munich business school its about 6-8K euro ,probs because its english

Well, If you enroll in an English-language university program then it’s the University and you would be considered a transfer applicant. You must pick a foundation year dedicated to learning German for education purpose. Those foundation years are okay and allow you to keep your freshman status.

@MYOS1634 thank you , when i searched your StudienKolleg , it said that they require german skills , thats why i am confused now

You have some just for internationals who don’t speak German. You apply to a university 's regular program in German. Since you don’t speak German, you are directed to the presidency college program. You have three semesters to reach the required level in German and you’re automatically admitted to the University. If you don’t, you lose your student visa. For your purpose it means you’d become proficient and would retain your freshman status, with an excellent outcome regardless.
