Admission Revoked?

Hello all!
To put it bluntly I received an F in a design class I took at Cuesta during the Fall 2015 semester. The class is not a required or desired course however.
It’s very disappointing, so, with that in mind, if I’m admitted to Poly for the Fall 2016 quarter, what would happen to my admission? Should I contact admissions right now or wait? Also, would they be willing to work with me to maintain my admission or am I already out?

Thanks!
Any input would be amazing.

They will know sooner or later anyway, so I would call admissions and ask what your options are. Good luck.

You can’t be revoked if you’re not admitted yet.

No way I’d call admissions now and raise this issue. You haven’t been admitted yet.

See if you get admitted, and if so deal with it then. At least at that point you’ll have the momentum of having been admitted. It’s easier and more common to reject an applicant than it is to rescind an admission.

They’re not going to pull your application and flag it. You don’t even have to give them your name. The bottom line is an F will automatically result in rescission. At least you can find out if you can retake it in the Spring to override the bad grade. You wait, get in and an F shows up on your transcript you will have your admission rescinded…guaranteed.

“The class is not a required or desired course however.” I disagree with eyemeh on this one. People are not rescinded necessarily for an F in a class that is not required for admission. If your MCA score puts you above the threshold for admission to your declared major, you will be admitted. It is unlikely that failing a class that is not required or desired would result in being rescinded unless your MCA was one of the very lowest that was accepted. I would not say anything to CP admissions for now. Find out first if you get accepted. I might, however, just to be safe, re-take the class in the spring semester and get at least a C. Then the F will no longer be relevant.

Maybe that’s the best of all worlds, just take it over.

I’d suggest making a new email account, and asking admissions with that - that way you learn what they have to say, without the information getting tied to your application. Download Tor or use a VPN if you want to get really tin-foil-hat paranoid :stuck_out_tongue:

How can I determine my MCA score? @ralph4

Also, if I do get in, should I contact them immediately or should I wait until my Spring grades come out and then send everything in then? @ralph4 @eyemgh

Go to the end of the thread posted at the top. It’ll walk you through it. As for what to do about your F you have to make that decision. I’ve already told you to call and not give your name and ask your options. Others have told you to wait. You’ve got the info you need, now you have to decide what to do with it.
