Why did Cal state long beach and Cal poly pomona release their admission decisions so early this year?
Cal states in general usually release decisions in February. Non-impacted campuses and majors will hear earlier than February.
When my 2 son’s applied 5 and 6 years ago, Cal Poly Pomona started posting their decisions in January and Long Beach about the same time as this year (Mid-February). San Diego state has notified high stat/honors college admits in December for at least the last 7 years while CSU Fullerton use to also notify high stat/honors college invitees in December but decisions have been pushed back into February/March the last few years.
Cal state decision timelines have been unpredictable for years so nothing new.
We are all getting anxious, my DD is waiting on SDSU and Cal Poly SLO to make a decision, she’s just about ready to take those 2 out of the mix because she has acceptances to 7 others and just wants to start planning for next year. Some of the schools she’s been accepted to have already opened housing choices and if you don’t sign up early you may not get what you want. Hurry up SDSU and CP.
Unfortunately, my daughter is also waiting on SDSU and Cal Poly. Based on the last couple of years, the best guestimate for both is the first week of March. Earlier would be nice, but realistically, the notices won’t be much later than mid-March. It doesn’t help with the waiting, but it is a reminder that the answer WILL come within a reasonable time frame.
The bright side is that if your daughter chooses SDSU or SLO, they both have a Freshman live-on requirement and she will be right in line with everyone else for housing options.
