Admission to College, With Catch: Year’s Wait

<p>Obviously this is better for the college to maximize its economies of scale. But doesn’t this also benefit the student? I’m sure many disappointed freshman take a place at second/third/fourth place college with the intent to transfer – what’s the difference?</p>

<p>The transfers’ SAT scores are also not included in the statistics for the entering class. I recently brought these issues up with a faculty member of a prominent law school. He confirmed that the first-year class was kept a bit smaller and then transfers were admitted to manipulate the statistics of the entering class.</p>
