GPA is low, any tips on boosting it? I will take AP's next year. Also, should I retake my ACT?

Work on getting up your GPA – studying with friends, tutoring, asking teachers for help when you don’t understand something (with respect for their time, not the day before/morning of a test) all helps. Your ECs look nice! I would recommend definitely having some more safety/match schools – collegeboard.org shows the average ACT/SAT scores of admitted students for most schools, as well as GPA, admit rates, etc. Try looking at colleges where your stats put you above average. It can’t hurt to retake the ACT, or take the SAT and see which one you do better on. Good luck!

I agree with spuding102 that your GPA is just too low for several of the schools you listed.

I’m not sure what you are getting at when you ask “how to boost” your GPA. My usual advice is to study and get better grades.

Be realistic and do the math. You are already a Junior. Even straight A’s (while admirable) this semester will be balanced against your GPA which includes grades from your prior 2.5 years in high school, and will not move your overall GPA very much. An upward trend is the best you can hope for and is looked upon favorably by many colleges.
