I was wondering if someone could tell me what they believe my chances are for being accepted into Elon, as it is my top school. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

-Senior
- Top Catholic private school in Connecticut (OOS)
- 3.6 weighted, 3.3 unweighted. I know this is a little low but the school I attend is well-known for being very rigorous
- 28 ACT (taking again)
- 1850 SAT, 1230 combined Math and CR
- 257 service hours
- 4 AP courses and 7 honors courses throughout high school
- top 50% of class (a little low)
- lots of ECSs including varsity hockey and lacrosse, service projects, camp counselor, job at restaurant for over 1 year, etc.
- 3 very strong letters of recommendation

You appear to be a strong candidate for acceptance. I would try to demonstrate your interest in Elon as much as possible. Visiting the school and meeting your area admissions counselor would be my advice. My daughter is a freshmen and absolutely loves it. Good luck!

I agree with 1stkidtocollege…also, I too have a freshman daughter who is having the experience she hoped for when she was applying to Elon. Although this can be difficult to know, investigate if any students from your school and/or locale are considering applying and where/how you stack against them. My daughter had a modest interest/curiosity in applying to school X until she found out that 3 stronger students from her class were applying to this very same out of state school. That information kind of diffused her interest in school X. While Elon will take a significant number of students from your state, they, like most schools, want to diversify their incoming class. As for your chance…Take home message… 1) if at all possible know your competition 2) Make certain you share with the admissions committee at least these two things…your interest Elon and proposed contributions you can make to Elon.

In looking at other colleges in College Confidential, you have posted the exact same message. Including the part about each school being your top school. So not sure about which school really your top choice, however will answer your question. Your ACT is at the lower part of median, as is your SAT. You are below in GPA and in class rank. If Elon is really your top school, I believe you should do ED for Elon. That will increase your odds. The university is really big on showing interest.

Happy your Son got into Elon and hope he is enjoying his time there. The stats for school guy are on the lower part of the 50% range according to last year report from Elon. If he schoolguy really has Elon as his number one school, he should go ED to improve his chances. You can get in with lower number, but schoolguy stats do not make him a strong candidate.

Off the subject somewhat - How did you end up submitting three letters of rec? We can’t figure out how to do that on the application since the school only asks for a counselor rec. (I hope you get in!)
