Hello~

I have a question regarding admissions consulting for medical school- has anyone used this before and found it helpful (more specifically, Kaplan, TPR, any other resource)? Any input/thoughts/advice would be really appreciated!

Thank you~

We folks here at CC do it for free all the time. I think we collectively do as good of a job as any of those pay services. :)

I’m now charging $25/hr.

Gotta take care o that debt somehow, eh NCG?

Compared to the folks who charge $300 an hour – a quick google search for medical school admissions consulting will give you a lot of results – NCG’s a real bargain.

And I didn’t have to pay BDM (much) to say that about me.

On a serious note, admissions consultants won’t do anything for you that a good premed adviser (or yourself) can’t do. A lot has to do with “packaging” yourself and I find it hard to hire someone for a few hundred dollars an hour just to help me fill out my application. I personally don’t know any classmates or people who’ve used them for med school apps. A more common service employed by applicants is to have someone edit your essays (usually costs $100-300). Again, expensive service that takes advantage of neurotic premeds.
