@JPGator98 you push whether you want to apply for rolling or EA
My daughter just found out her application has been deferred. She has a weighted GPA of 3.85 and ACT of 28 and active in multiple orchestras and the tennis team as well as works part time.
OSU only has EA and RD - there is no rolling admission. So if you applied prior to Nov 1 you applied EA.
Logged into the Buckeye link, then clicked on the Application Center, on that page under the admissions section there is a link that says Application Status. Click on that and you will see your status. Earlier she was in an Evaluation status, now it says deferred. For those of you who get accepted it should say Accept.
@adlgel I am merely saying that applicants who applied EA also considered to apply for Honors/Morril/Scholars seeing as that EA applicants are given more priority. There are probably quite a few applicants here who did.
Sorry I applied to so many schools I must have screwed that up!
Nothing yet here.
Ah. May be date of admission, then.
OSU sends out admission and Morrill Scholarship acceptance letters separately
I noticed one or two folks report back that their students were notified of being “deferred” this afternoon. The last two years I don’t recall anyone reporting that they were deferred in this first wave of decisions. As I recall, only the applicants with highest stats received decisions of acceptances in the Friday before thanksgiving. Two years ago my son’s portal changed at around 7 pm. Last year decisims came at about this exact time. And nobody received deferrals or denials until January. Perhaps OSU is doing it a little differently this year. We shall see. Good luck to all, including my daughter who anxiously awaits a decision! Go Bucks!
So maybe no news is good news?
Not quite sure about that. A friend of mine last year applied with a 4.6/35 ACT with tons of awards and extracurriculars in music and was not admitted until mid-December. It may just be date of admission this year… not sure.
My D is still in evaluation too.
We are patiently waiting as well. My D applied late October, but it seemed to be in evaluation within a few days. Weighted GPA of 4.2, Unweighted 4.0, 1st in her class, ACT 27, applied for Knowlton College of Architecture and Scholars Program.
You never know the rhyme or reason on these things. I was seeing the same thing with MSU, my D was accepted early and I saw others with higher stats posting they are still waiting on decisions there. IU was the same for us, took a bit longer for my D to get her acceptance there when others with lower stats were finding out.
You just never know.
It’s just weird the only two decisions posted were deferrals.
@JKacherski88 I did not mean to say that all the high stat applicants were admitted in the first wave. I just meant to say that the applicants who reported receiving decisions on the Friday before thanksgiving all had very strong credentials. With over 40,000 applications, many of which are Early Action, it is impractical to expect OSU to be able to make decisions on all the strongest of applicants in the first wave. There are just too many applications to review.
@trackmbe3 I understand. My mistake for misunderstanding
I just asked a friend and they were denied from main.
Out of curiosity, what are the different stages before reaching an ultimate Admitted/Rejected decision? I was not aware that there was a stage before “Evaluation.” I’m reading that there are “Application Complete” and “Active” stages as well. From reading online, it appears that “Evaluation” is the last stage before being accepted/rejected/deferred? Does anyone have any first-hand experience with a stage other than evaluation?
