I don't think its going to have major consequences if you create an account, because they wouldn't put the link up and trick you into it just to punish you later

So anyone have an idea when it comes out today? (assuming that today is "the day")

IF today is "the day", it will probably either be 12noon (PT) or 4PM (PT)

Are those the times from previous years?

Does anyone know about the regents scholarship yet? curious if the winners have been notified

I remember a letter saying they'd notify the people who didn't get it first.
I'm anxious about that, too.

Thanks for the info. Good luck to you as well :)

I'm going to think positively for everyone posting on this site. The ability to create an URSA account for ALL freshman applicants is nonsensical. URSA FAQs state that URSA has "handled up to 53,000 users in a day." Would it make any sense at all for URSA to handle all current UCLA faculty and students, 4016 faculty plus over 36,000 students, in addition to all freshman applicants for 2008, 55,369, for a total potential of over 98,000 users? Not to me. Makes more sense that the few posters on this site are admitted students. I like it.

In addition, why would they assign 55,369 UIDs to prospective students? What a waste of time. UCLA's website states: "The UCLA Identification System (UID) is used to assign a unique identification number to students and employees of the University." I don't read "freshman applicants" here, nor do I think it is implied in any way.

I count only 4 or so people on this site who have created an URSA account and received a UID. Makes more sense that these few people are admitted students. Yeah! Think positively, no bad juju!

if they have the decisions, then dont they just post them?

I'm sorry, but I'm going to have to disagree. All they ask, when you create a UID, is your name and birthday. They don't ask for you UCID, and they let you create your own ID. How would they verify that you are actually YOU and not just using some kid's name? Had they asked for a UCID I would probably agree that it would be a sign of admissions, but as is I think it's simpy a flaw in the system.

this could be a fatal flaw, with everyone registering and such. should i contact office of admissions?

Oh wait - I didn't realize that you can say that you are a new student and use your UCID number instead of a UCLA number. Hmm...perhaps ledida is correct, then? Has anybody tried to make one and failed?

Oh dang - I can log into USRA, and they've got all my personal information there (which I didn't give, just my UCID number). Hmm...

im way too nervous to do this especially at school. ill wait till they post later today (which they should if they're out, right??)

On the other hand, there's no place to submit a SIR. Thus, this might just be a flaw. I guess we should just wait until they post decisions, haha.

Hi xxfly4lyfxx,
I would certainly let it be and not contact admissions, especially if they didn't mean to release the URSA website to admitted students (cross your fingers) before the actual decisions. Could be a flaw, but I'm hoping for a flaw in our favor!

Excuse my stupidity, but what is a URSA ID?

Hi vc08,
Go to https://www.ursa.ucla.edu and you are able to create a student account with your application number. As you go through the login process, you are given a UID, University ID, which is a student ID number for students at UCLA to use for registration, paying of accounts, etc......................I agree that the SIR is not yet there, but I am hoping for noon!

So If we can access URSA, does that mean we might be in???

^^Take it worth a grain of salt.

i don't think the fact that we can make a student ID has any bearing on whether or not we've been admitted because EVERYONE can make an ID. i think i'm going to call the admissions office just to clear this up, especially because if we are admitted and are making these accounts now, something might get messed up when we try and create accounts in the future.
