<p>I've heard they want you to be yourself but how much is too much? I want to write my common app essay on the Failures topic based on an experience that isnt very typically serious. I'm pretty sure I can illustrate how this event affected me but I don't want it to come off like I'm blowing the essay off. Anyone get it and write a risky essay?</p>
<p>Um. This seems a little vague to me so I can’t say 100%; however, it’s very possible to write a “not-so-serious” topic and get accepted into a college. It’s all about how you’re able to portray things. I’d recommend seeing if you can find someone (preferably that knows a little something about what colleges look for in admissions essays) and have them read the essay and tell you what they think about it.</p>
