My freshman GPA was a 3.446, and my sophomore and junior year GPAs were both 4.0s. Since Princeton doesn't count freshman year GPA towards cumulative GPA, would this make Princeton view me as a 4.0 student? In other words, will this impact my chance at acceptance extensively? Inversely, would be lower freshman year GPA impact me negatively for Princeton admissions.

I have an SAT score of 2300, and have taken all IB courses during my junior year, and will graduate with the IB Diploma. I also have excellent ECs.

I would be interested in where you found out that Princeton does not count freshman GPA’s as this has been in question on this forum for some time. If you have a supporting website could you please post it? I would suggest that in the absence of such documentation it appears that Princeton does not strongly consider freshman grades in its admission process. Either way, improved marks cannot help but be a plus to an applicant. Strong test scores and IB along with good EC’s will certainly help. All of these make you a viable candidate, but I would still caution you to treat it as a “reach” school and apply with that perspective. And I wish you all the best!!

gtho: all applicants who are applying to PTon will face immense odds. If you truly see yourself there, you certainly possess some impressive achievements and I’d recommend your applying. Sure, a “reject” is a likely answer. But that’s reality for EVERYONE who hits the “submit” button. GL to you
