What does it mean? Office sent me a mail asking me to provide some official documentation, "in order to make a financial aid determination".

Does it imply anything?

Does it imply anything?

i don't think so, since middlebury is need blind, the admissions office doesn't deal with anything about the financial aid process. besides, even if it did, it's too early for them to decide.

While it is too early for them to announce an award, they will need all the official documentation in order to make a determination. Follow up with any and all requests for documentation and if dont understand what they are asking for, call them to find out. If you are in need of financial aid, any delays on your behalf could very well affect what is offered, especially in an economy when there are a lot more people asking, including current students.

While the decisions to accept you into the college is separate, the announcements are typically made together as a way to either entice or discourage applicants.

i forgot to mention i applied ed2, and decisions come feb 7. any implications?

Yes. It matters even more. If you are accepted they will send you a letter outlining a pretty good guesstimate of the aid that will come to you next year. However, do not confuse their wanting all you financial documentation with that of guaranteed acceptance.

Is there a problem in that you cant provide something that their asking you for? Cuz if it's your tax return, they really like those done ASAP. However, they can guesstimate their guesstimate, but I am sure you can see why they'd like less guesses than real numbers.

If you have a problem, you should call them ASAP

I got one such email at the end of December (exact wording). So imho it doesn't mean much. I applied RD.
Just wait 8 days and receive your official decision.
