Admissions Office takes over the tourguide operation

Some fear tour guide credibility may be lost as Orange Key group loses independence and administration "controls" the message.

Well, as I have posted here before, I think Harvard takes the right approach in having the admissions office manage their tour guides. Princeton (despite its protests to the contrary) is smart to make this change, which will bring some consistency in tone and content. We took several tours of Princeton and never had a bad one, but others on these boards have reported some pretty unfortunate tours. Touring Harvard, I certainly felt we made contact with the student himself and his point of view on various topics despite the "control," and I have no doubt that Princeton student guides' own ideas, personalities and accounts of campus experiences will bring life and realism to the message.

Yep, good move indeed.

Yea I actually would prefer if there was some oversight. I took a tour there and my tour guide didn't even mention Eating Clubs, which are a huge part of the social life at Princeton. Overall she was nice and did say some great things, but overall I was unsatisfied with my tour. I still loved the campus and just about everything I have heard about it, so I will be applying ED this fall. However, had I not researched Princeton before my visit I would have left with a much different vibe. I think this will be aided, not hindered, but oversight of the tours.
