<p>over time, enrollment in ANY university has gotten so much tougher! what will happen in, say, fifty years? Harvard’s acceptance rate will be like one percent.</p>

<p>The population is always growing. The population of the US was a lot lower 30 years ago, and will be much higher in 30 years. The higher the population, the more top students, and the bigger the applicant pools. These schools don’t ever increase their class sizes by much (if ever) in comparison to that. Therefore, top schools will all naturally get more selective over time as the population grows, unless significant actions to mitigate this natural phenomenon are undertaken.</p>
