How important is class rank in Wellesley admissions? I'm in the top 10 percent (top 7 percent, I believe) in a competitive public school. I've got great EC's and test scores, but the entire rank thing has made me quite nervous...

ALSO--college environment? From what I've heard (which could be completely wrong), the college is very stressful. Is this the bad, "OH MY GOD, I'M GONNA DIE" sort of stress or the "Hmm, I'm being challenged. Curious." sort of stress? :P

Can’t tell you about rank, as mine was high- I don’t know what factor it made in admissions.

As for the environment question, it depends on how bad a procrastinator you are. :-P

Rank depends on the individual and the high school you are coming from. I know many people who were valedictorian/top of their class and I know people who were lower than that… Wellesley really does look at the overall student when looking at applications, so you won’t immediately be denied based on one number.

my high school didn’t even rank students, though i gave an estimate of top 25%

I wasn’t ranked fabulously in my school (we only found out about our rank once we sent it in), so I assume other factors went into the decision, like my darn good looks. ;)

I was ranked really well in my high school and several of my friends were valedictorian/salutatorians but I also have friends who weren’t ranked all that well but who had great ECs and essays. Wellesley wants well-rounded students. From what I understand, the top 10% is really what they look for so 7% should be good esp if you’re coming from a good school.
