^^^ hahaha CanaryK, yes lol you can probably figure out who I am!
you can add me on facebook too! My name is Dillon Auvenshine lol
yeah…I like grammar and sentence structure stuff lol but I hate literature and language analysis crap! I’m afraid I’m going to struggle with college English lol
maybe not though I’m a good student haha and I actually don’t mind writing SOMETIMES
but YES, it just takes a lot of your time haha

I’ll be there on the 15th. looking forward to meeting everyone

^^Hahah lucky, you’re the only one with that name on Facebook. If anyone tried to search me up, they’d have like 500 results :|

Ah, I see, I guess I’m not the same way then haha. Literature is okay with me, since reading’s sometimes fun. I always find myself rolling my eyes at the analysis we do in class, but actually doing the work isn’t too bad. But I’m not the best student, and writing takes a long time, and it’s boring, and I get fed up with it ahaha.
I bet you’ll be fine in college English. The only notable difference I’m anticipating is more/more-difficult writing :)

hahaha true that! lol my last name isn’t too common oh wow lol well good think YOU added ME then
Ahhhh I gotcha, haha. I just have a hard time deciphering literature I guess. I can’t see all the deep meanings and crap lol I’m such an objective person sometimes hahaha I can be subjective sometimes too haha but it’s not my thing…I’m a math/science guy LOL
Agreed on getting fed up with writing! haha
well thanks, I guess we will have to see : P but yeah it’ll definitely be lots of writing haha

I’m going on the 21-22 :)

How was the admitted student event?

I really liked it! the weather was fantastic so there was a lot of activity going on around campus. There were plenty of people available to talk to and they were very friendly. It was good to see that a lot of people were just hanging out on ‘the beach’ or playing volleyball or something, which dispelled a lot of the notions of “cut-throat” environment of JHU.

So I was kinda pleasantly surprised…
alot of the girls here are fiiinnnnnnnneeee

Absolutely loved it! Im definitely attending now.

It was SUPER DUPER hahaha I absolutely loved it :D

Hi Can anyone kindly tell me what I missed out on these events? I’m an international student currently living in Peru so I won’t be able to make it to neither of the dates :(

yeah - what did everyone do?

Ok Here’s how it went
I was in the Discovery Days program so it might be a little different haha
but I know on the open house thing, which we also got to participate in was cool
basically you could do whatever you wanted to do!
There were tours and stuff first. Then there were little sessions you could attend that were specific to your major and get inside information.
Then you could pick classes on campus and attend them! It was really neat haha
If you go through a hosting society where you stay overnight, you get to stay in a dorm with a college student that already goes there and that was a wonderful way to get any question you wanted answered! I loved it all haha
and Discovery Days got to go on an in-harbor cruise haha so you won’t be missing that but it was fun anyhow
I pretty much felt like I was already a student there. It was really awesome, and I enjoyed every minute of it! haha

I can’t wait to go on the 22nd. I am heading down a day early, so does anyone have any suggestions on what to do the day before? I was thinking of checking on the campus, the libraries, and go into Baltimore for some food on the 21st.

Check out campus yourself, sit in on a class and get down to the Inner Harbor.

I just did all of the above. Today was a great day. I can’t wait to go to the admitted student day tomorrow. Being here has convinced me that I won’t accept offers from CalTech or MIT if I get off those waitlists; I really like Hopkins a lot.

^^What sealed the deal? Congrats on the decision.

Sitting in on classes and meeting with a few professors and students really helped me to realize that if I were to get into MIT or CalTech, I’d be going there for the wrong reasons. I like the rigor of MIT and CalTech, but honestly, I feel that you can make JHU, like any other school, as rigorous as you want it to be. There’s just as many opportunities at JHU as at other institutions for research, getting to know professors, and other things. So it all came down to where I felt more comfortable, which was by far JHU. I’m still holding out for Harvard’s waitlist, but I won’t be upset if I don’t get off (although it would be a very nice treat).

My son requested sunshine and warm weather for his Admitted Students Day yesterday. He received that and much more. Thanks for a great day!

Weather seems like a huge factor for kids choosing colleges.
