Admitted students chat!

Well, my mathematical conclusion is that Princeton sent all RD accepts by DHL :) . I got my acceptance and every other important correspondence FedEx, but that don' mean anything. I don't see any reason why the university would use only one company.

Cevonia, do you even have to ask?
Kotor! all the way!
I'm not a gaming freak. I play about two computer games each year. But Kotor kept me hooked to the comp for about 12 hours a day in winter, just after i sent my apps. It was addictive. Trully addictive.
Throughout Kotor2 i would only pay attention to story details involving Revan.

Revan is the best fictional charachter ever created and one of the most complex. Bastilla...well, all comments are useless. The romance sidequest would make my girlfriend extremely gelous. The storyline and charachters were impecable. The story twist left me breathless: "You are Darth Revan".

And the whole ...moral... aspect of Revan's fall: To sacrifice yourself to evil, to die in darkness so others could live in light. Its like sacrifing yourself to hell.... disturbing.

In any case. I'm a Kotor freak. And i love the whole concept of the Jedi Order.

P.S. Sorry for posting with no relation to the topic. couldn't help myself.

P.P.S. 50 ppl. Depends on how you view it. If all of them are going to talk at once, then yes: 50 is too big a number. But if it is like a forum, with different threads and chat rooms, it is relatively small.

See, I suspected you'd say that. As much as I loved Kotor (and my parents can attest that I loved it to death, played it through 6 times to test all four endings (male/female light/dark)) and as much as the twist blew my mind and as much as I though Kotor flawless and impossible to top, Kotor 2 was, for me, a far more interesting story. It had so much more depth, it was so much more subtle that it just completely overwhelmed me. The gameplay wasn't quite as good (or more accurately, no longer as innovative), there were some annoying bugs and the ending wasn't as emotionally satisfying, but the line: "If you thought there was any big revelation, there isn't" was simply genius.

I had to leave KOTOR2 behind when I came back to Beijing, so I never finished it a second time. May I ask if there is a different ending if you play light or dark, or are they very similar? (I only finished light side, so if there is a substanially different ending, no details please!)

And apologies to everyone else for such a random and unrelated discussion.

sorry to interrupt your captivating talk here :D, but i just realized something:
I mean if they already divided everybody into 20 chats, couldn't they have grouped us internationals geographically and put the chat at a reasonable hour both for the internationals and the on-campus students?!
I think that everybody takes part in the 27th chat. That would explain the early (for me) but inflexible hour.

Did anybody NOT receive a 27th invitation?

At the risk of sounding stupid I have to ask- what is Kotor

KOTOR: Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic, a game (for Xbox and PC) that takes place 4,000 years before the movies.

Oh OK cool :)
gah stupid 60 second rule

haha, when i first saw the question cev asked, i googled KOTOR, and when i saw the first few links i said "oh Star Wars." :|

no offense guys :D

You DARE question the genius of Star Wars?! (j/k)

Seriously, while I enjoyed the movies, it wasn't until KOTOR that I grew to love the entire Star Wars universe. The stories before and after the movies are incredibly varied and a lot more interesting.

Star Wars makes no sense to me :p

NOOOOO cevonia, pleeease don't slay me with your light-beam-thingy-sword... slow-motion: falls to his knees :D

i can understand your passion though, i have the exact same, just not for star wars. for.... say.... ummm... what am i passioned by? i would say lord of the rings, but i deff haven't put enough energy into it to call it a passion...

Oh i know! i used to love to play the really antique "Indiana Jones" games... does it count?

Quote: "Seriously, while I enjoyed the movies, it wasn't until KOTOR that I grew to love the entire Star Wars universe. The stories before and after the movies are incredibly varied and a lot more interesting."

Same here. Kotor made me a Jedi Order freak. It has much more depth then the movies.
ending: Yes there is a difference. Nothing important. Just another thing to complicate the story continuity in Kotor3. (if there will or will not be is discussed on lucasarts.com forums).

And what you say is true.
The genius line is genius. But for me Kotor2 just added much more depth to Revan and Kotor1. It was like they completed the first game. But on its own, it can't surpass the first. The reasons probably being: 1. the game is incomplete. Lucas rushed the game to meet christmas deadlines and it came out incomplete(storywise).
2.in kotor 1 you played as Revan. The exile was just not enough. The depth in Kotor2 is Revan's depth. Everything revolves around him, his choices and actions. The exile is just his General. And 6 times?! you bested me. i only played 4 and half times. Never could bring myself to finish as a female. It just didn't click for me(misoginism??? :-?)

SW makes no sense?
Try to understand it you must, my young Padawan. Perhaps, one day, i will initiate you in the mysteries of the Force and the Jedi Order.
Plus, being one with the universe and weilding a sword made of light?! Who can ask for more?

Lord of the Rings is a passion with me...the books at any rate :)

okey, now to excuse myself and get back to topic

I think all ppl are in the 27th chat. It is natural. By then most ppl will have chosen their school. So, if the other chats were held in april (before May 1st) in order the increae yield, on the 27th we will probably only chat with the ones that made the smart choice (Pton).
Like a get-together.

P.S. Pavalon, Star Wars is somewhat similiar with Lord of the rings: Mysticism, heroes, swords (gotta love the swords, be they metal or light). Perhaps we will initiate a mystics' club at Pton.

"Put down your ligtssaber jedi, or i shall strike you down"
"Never, Sauronn! The Force my hand guides"
* Yoda cuts Sauron's hand and throws the one ring into the core of the Death Star*

Darth Vader:"The elves never told you what happened to your ancestors and your father! I am your father Aragorn!"

Edit: Harry Potter can join as well

revan... you.... you... you Blasphemer!!! how dare you make a mush out of different fantasy stories? :p

Edit: quite funny though :D

I GOT MY PACKAGE! I feel so loved! Really, I can't believe they bothered to Fedex a package that essentially says that it's pointless, has nothing of importance but that they thought it would be nice for us to hear from them.... I'm all warm and fuzzy inside....

My chat's on the 27th too, pity I can't make it (damn class!).

Star Wars, LOTR, Harry Potter... i love them all! there's nothing great about the acting and stuff in the movies, but there's other stuff... the music, the scenery, the cosumes, the idea of a whole new world with complex lore behind it... all that stuff makes these movies really EPIC. last night i watched lotr the 2 towers for the 6th time i think. and i could just watch it again and again without getting bored. because it's just so damn powerful...it makes me wanna laugh and cry at the same time... emotional rant

Haha, you guys really take over during the day (well, during the day over here anyways...). Nice.

are you guys planning to use the same screen name for the chat...i think we should...that way, we cc'ers can take over... :p
