Admitted to UCLA

(I usually just get hte medium....)

Lol seriously..about the celebrating thing...i totally let myself get pizza today instead of subway. And im going to let myself come home from the magazine early and sleep (we're on deadline..havent truly slept in weeks).

yay.

I'm out of state transfer, tuition is mad crazy. They are tentatively giving me 400$ grant money, lol! I am not sure about their breakdown as of now, but here it is

Cost of Attendance
(Includes registration, books and supplies, room and board, personal items, and transportation) $38,495

Notice Date April 27, 2005
Parent Contribution $0
Student Contribution $12,177
Housing Selection Off-Campus
Financial Aid Eligibility $26,318

Provisional Awards:

University Grant $398
Loans $10,500

Provisional Award Total:
$10,898

So, where is the other $15418? It says I bring 12k (which of course would be loans because I don't actually have 12k!), and they are loaning me another 10k, but where is the add'l $15418? Anyone else have calculation problems, or just me? I think I need to call them to see about any add'l aid as I won't have a job and have no family contribution.

eh, well, i'll see about Cal first.

That is tough because Juniors can only borrow 10,500 in either a combo of Sub and Unsub Stafford, or Plus loans......

I'll be taking out a Perkins loan I think.
either way, sounds like a tough situation......

Wait can our admissiion be revoked for ANY reason? I'm paranoid.

It appears you're going to have to work....and take out some private loans, perhaps. Something like Citiassist via Citibank where you can borrow up to your determined need.

I think it can be if the requirements aren't met within the Spring semester, but that's really a no-brainer......

Don't be paranoid, be proud! ;-)

Basically, for those who don't do well in Spring and planned on completing requirements in Spring, then....yes, they should worry...

what r the housing options for transfers?
on campus dorms? r they good?

yes the dorms are awesome

Holy crap... I just got in with a 3.5, poli sci (yes, from the honors program.) I'm in shock right now. But they say they're only offering me $1,418 in loans... Every other school has offered me enough to pay full tuition with grants and Direct and PLUS loans. Guess I'll worry about that later. My dream is Cal, but if I don't get in, I am so grateful to have this opportunity!

I dropped two Econ classes since being rejected from ucsb and received w's its not in my major or anything for ucla just taking them because ucsb required them and I already reported it to UCLA do you think this could end up being a problem?

In
GPA-3.8
Major-Geography

Exilio... I want to submit my SIR so bad, but promised myself I'd wait for Berkeley. I don't know I just want to say I saw all my options before I made a decision...

With that said, unless Berkeley offers me a full ride, and a shiny new car, I'll be a Bruin next year.

Heh, yeah Allena for some Berkeley is the place to be, I don't blame you for waiting. But I have known UCLA was where I wanted tobe when i started going to my CC two years ago..so I am beyond thrilled. I wish the same for you.

I really feel for those who haven't found out, are still pending and those who have been rejected. Getting into UCLA has been such a nice achievement to really round out my time here at CC, which was a blast.

It's going to be amazing to look forward to new challenges that will grow you and shape you in a holistic sense, if you will. Anywho, yes...I've got to do the SIR thingy.

We're never satisfied, are we? Now, I'm just waiting for the paperwork. lol

I'm thrilled there was a website like this! I owuld often get discouraged at my school, since only a handful of the 16,000 students there really cared about their education. I could always come to this site though and find people who knew just how stressful it was trying to get into a top university!

BOOOOOOOYA!!!!! admitted yay! 3.95 American Lit and Culture. I think i got in because no one wants my major (:[), but who cares! not only that, but 15,000 in financial aid (and they havent even considered cal grant, which they dont receive info about until mid july). Honest to god, having parents that are at the california poverty line has its perks.

Yeah, being middle class sucks...everyone thinks you have money you don't have. >.<

Hey I am so happy i got accepted!! I am a biology major at UCSB, GPA 3.86...

lilomui: stats? major?
