ADT / AST - what do you mean it’s not a similar degree?

I am applying for Cal States and I am major in chemical engineering but I will be getting my ADT in Chemistry (as there is no chemical engineering ADT offered at any community college). I applied as major for chemistry for the schools that don’t offer that (CSULA, CSUF).

I got notification from all the schools that I will not be eligible to have an admissions decision based on my ADT because:

“-The degree program you are pursuing at your Community College is not similar to the major you selected on your admission application.

  • The degree will not be completed in time for consideration for your term of application.“

All schools list both reasons, including the schools that I applied as a chemistry major. Except I have already completed all of the coursework for the degree I just have to wait until the Date that the graduation applications open at my school next month… and the only requirements for CSUs is to have it done by spring, which will be done since every single course has already been completed. I’m actually well beyond the requirements for the ADT.

Does anyone know how I can dispute both of these issues with the schools directly?

Does so your CC offer an ADT for Chemistry and does CSULB and CSULA accept an ADT in Chemistry from your CC?

Did you use this search function to make sure your the CC your are attending has an ADT Chemistry program comparable to the CSU targets?

I would check with your advisor. Perhaps something was filled out incorrectly on your CSU apply application.

According to the CSU web site in reply #1, no engineering major is selectable as a target for AA-T/AS-T fulfillment of transfer requirements (i.e. you have to look up requirements on ASSIST to see what courses at your community college you need to cover them). However, chemistry is, and CSULA, CSU Fullerton, and CSU Fresno accept AS-T in chemistry from many community colleges (check to see if your community college is listed).
