Advent Calendars

S18 is enjoying a Beef Jerky Advent Calendar from Man Crates and D20 got a cookie calendar from Harry and David, She wants to study abroad in London next spring, so I also sent her the Jacquie Larson London Calendar. Thank you @collegemom3717 for the recommendation. She loves it!

Generally you get 24 miniskeins (25 yards), one full skein, and some extras (notions), but it can vary. Some will be attached to a specific pattern (Jimmy Beans Wool does this), most are not. There are a lot of patterns available on Ravelry which are designed for advent sets.

Based upon suggestions here, I gave my D the L’Occitane Advent box and she is loving it. Gave our S an Italian cookie calendar from World Market. I’ll have to check with him.

Went for non-chocolate advent calendars this year. Bought my S a dungeons and dragons dice advent calendar from Etsy and he’s thrilled with it. Younger D is enjoying her NARS calendar and my older D is loving her Disney pin/ornament calendar.

Anyone buy a Chanel advent calendar?

I’m enjoying reading about all the great calendars.
I purchased two identical Paw Patrol calendars for my grandchildren and they are thrilled with them. Our grandson, 4-1/2, understands the concept, and our granddaughter, 2-1/2, is following his lead. She wonders why her brother’s favorite character, Marshall, was behind door #1 and her favorite character, Skye, hasn’t appeared yet.

My daughter is loving her Sugarfina Advent Calendar. She shares it with her husband and three year old daughter. Her year old loves it!

Anybody buy the Costco dog advent calendar - it has been recalled Costco issues product advisory on dog advent calendar | Globalnews.ca

Cute video from Britain cooking group reviewing some British advent calendars - check out the fancy one from Fortnum and Mason

Not nearly as expensive as I’d thought. I used to work for a company with their HQ behind F&M…and it was the “go-to” food gift location. The Strawberry-Champagne jam was a staple, but it became difficult with the liquid limits for someone not checking a bag. I prefer F&M to Harrod’s…but dining in the food halls at Harrod’s is more of an experience.

My daughter purchased the OP’s Jam and Jelly box…and it’s been nice to try some of the variations in the box.

Williams Sonoma carries some F&M products - I saw a few in one of their stores and they have more on their website - https://www.williams-sonoma.com/shop/food/food-fortnum-and-mason/ Some of their biscuits and tea are also available on Amazon. I agree that the prices of the big advent calendar was not bad considering what you get and the quality of their stuff.

D got a sock calendar last year from Target (all NASA related socks). I think she did holiday dog socks this year.

If I remember in time, I’ll order something for both kids early next year …some great ideas on this thread.

I think someone upthread mentioned Harry & David. I received a gift box from them yesterday, and half of the pears had disintegrated into disgusting, leaky goo. They are supposed to send a replacement, we’ll see.

Yuk! I hope you get your replacement. Luckily that advent calendar is just cookies!!

We got a gift box this week from them that included 6 pears- all delicious. Sorry yours were not good . They are delicious if they arrive in good shape.

We opened our Bonne Maman advent calendar today (we just open it all on Christmas day when we are all together.) Looks like a tea theme this year - fruits with Chamomile, Jasmine, Hibiscus, etc. Looking forward to tasting them.
