Advice For Incoming Boarding School Applicants

<p>Tour guides really do make a difference to how you perceive a school. I remember being very unimpressed by our tour guide at Westminster(CT), my child decided not to apply. That said, I don’t think that many current students would describe Choate as a “party” school. They have lots of fun activities, both planned and impromptu (like senior sledding), but both of my kids would tell you that they do an insane amount of work. In fact, my senior just described Choate as an “endurance test” and seems to think that college (top 20 university) is going to be a cake walk in comparison. Not sure if that’s true, we shall see…</p>

<p>My advice:</p>

<p>start early. I started at the beginning of January and in the end didn’t finish any applications due to complications with test dates. I’m applying again this year, and i hope to start in September, so that if anyhting goes wrong, I have time to sort it out</p>
