Hey everyone, I’m currently a freshman right now and I’ve pretty much wasted my whole first year taking science classes like biology and chemistry with very little diversity. I’m planning on switching to a pre-law track (I have my reasons and I have thought about this really seriously so no need to warn me about rash change of plan) and I’ve been looking at some majors I could take. My question is sort of directed to the people who are already at the stage where they’ve applied or been accepted to a law school: What should I major in considering that I’ve wasted my first year with almost completely unrelated course work? I have looked at Political Sciences, but in the event that I apply and don’t make it into a law college, a polysci degree is pretty useless overall so I was thinking about double majoring in maybe business with poly sci or economics. I am planning to go talk to an adviser about this, but I also wanted to hear what you guys had to say.
Bump, I have similar questions
Law schools don’t care about your undergraduate major one iota, all they care about is your GPA and your LSAT score.
With this in mind, you should select your major either by pursuing a passion or by pursuing a major with solid career prospects should your law school ambitions change.
I think Econ or any Business degree both provide solid career prospects. I know people who are pursuing degrees in Business and Poli Sci as well. Really up to you though.
Also - you can do a MBA and JD at the same time. In fact its very common.
