Just finished my freshman year and I screwed up bad with about a 3.2 cumulative GPA. I am a bioengineering major and I hate math and engineering, which is what my program focuses on, but I love biology and I intend to do pre-med. The only reason I am still a bioengineering major is because my parents give me this crap about "oh if you do'nt get into med school then what can you do with a biology degree." I really want to switch to Biology, not only because I like it better, but I really need to fix that GPA for med schools. I was wondering if you guys could give me any advice on switching majors. Thanks

switch. You’d have much better job prospects as a successful biology major than a mediocre BME.

Oh my. You’ve got to make your own decisions. If you hate what you’re doing, you are not likely to do your best. You should switch and look into it asap. The bio program is an LEP so it’s going to require permission. Do you have any AP credit? I believe the program requires Calculus (2 semesters?) so it is not a math free zone. You should probably try to get this done before the freshies fill up all the bio sections.

@Plumazul, I’ve finished up to calc 3 in math, up to orgo I in chem, I AP’d out of Physics I, and I have taken genetics and 207. I think these are the requirements for switching into Biology.
