vdoijode00: First off all, the intensity depends upon major. Second of all, even if you’re majoring in comp sci, it’s completely possible to have a nice balance of all of those things. I know many people who do it, so it can work. Just practice good time management.

just a quick question, how difficult is the history major at berkeley? how many get above 3.8 GPAs?

Can i still get in if my GPA dropped by one grade junior year?
It went from a 3.8 to a 3.67. Is there any way to make up for it?

@anneflys, First of all thank you for taking time to offer up advice to strangers, I can’t tell you how much I appreciate that and it helps so much to have a real student not affiliated with the college to answer questions! Me reduced to numbers: GPA is a 3.9, SAT 2310, and I’m a high school senior from Massachusetts looking to major in English Lit.

I’m happy with my SAT scores, should I bother with ACT?

How much will it kill me that I’m from out of state? Do you know anyone who’s been through the same thing?

Do you know anything about the english major? I know the grad school program is as good as/better than those of the Ivy League but how is the undergrad program? Class size? Professors? Courses?

I have a friend who wants to major in computer science. How much stiffer is the competition for the engineering school in comparison to the university as a whole. He thinks he has no hope of getting in.

Where do you live? I’d prefer to get my own apartment (with roommates) right off the bat, how common is this/will I have trouble?

Sorry to bombard you with questions, answer what you feel like and you can ignore all the rest. I would like to know a little about you too (major, stats coming in, experiences, etc) if you feel like telling because that helps a lot. Thanks for reading!

@brm114341 just some advice based on #4…if your friend wants to major in CS, there is no reason he can’t apply to the college of L&S. The EECS program the college of engineering is only beneficial to those who wish to study electrical engineering in conjunction with CS.

thanks for the advice
