Advice Need--Choosing Colleges

I have been selected to receive a full scholarship to my safety school, but the problem is I most likely won't attend. There's probably a ten percent chance that I will attend assuming I don't get into any of the colleges I recently applied (e.g Harvard, Yale, Brown, CMU, Dartmouth, Nortwestern, Cornell, and Penn). I also just got accepted to Pitt and would much rather attend there, but there is still a chance I'll attend the safety. The problem is the safety school is only giving out five full scholarships. If I take one and don't attend another person will miss out on getting a full scholarship, but if I decide to go there and I didn't go for the scholarship I would end up paying $30,000 when I could have gone free. I don't know what to do.

Thank you if you actually read this entire thing. I could really use the help.

Unless the terms of the scholarship require an immediate commitment, you should wait until April when you know your options, and make a decision then.

Wow, tough decision. Can I ask which school this is? When’s the deadline for accepting/declining the scholarship?

The school is Thiel College and I would have to attend an event on Jan. 29 where they would present me with the scholarship.

I’d so go for it. You need to do what is in best interest for you.

I also forgot NYU.

Are you in contention for merit at Pitt? I heard they were generous.

Are your parents comfortable with paying what the others will cost?
