I just graduated this past May with an Associate of Science Degree in Business Administration and I was wanting to weigh my options. I want to get a BA in Accounting with a second degree in Business Information Systems. I was wondering if after some work experience is it reasonable to get into some of the top MBA programs with a BA in Accounting and a BA in BISM. I will be attending UGA this fall to obtain my degrees, I know it is not the best school but at least it is ranked in the top 20 for undergraduate Accounting programs. What schools would be reasonable for me to pursue my master degree at? If you need anymore information from me just ask!!!

Thanks!

It's quite possible but is really impossible to say without knowing your work experience.

That is my main problem, I have work experience but I do not have work experience in the field of accounting yet. I am trying to find a part time job in the field of accounting or a intern ship. I would like to have a intern ship with a smaller company and one with with a major firm before I graduate but my odds are not looking good. I do not know how much it will benefit me but I actively participated in clubs and organizations at my college while obtaining my AS degree. In addition to this I was the Vice President of the Business Club at my college which lead to me planing and organizing events for the school. I am also in two honor societies and I graduated with honors.

To be honest, why do you want an MBA if you have a Bachelors in Accounting? I think you will find a lot of duplication in your studies.

I figured I would be able to get a higher paying job if I get a MBA verses just having a BA. Also, companies would see me as being more qualified when making the decision to hire me for a job.

Not really. If you go to a good graduate business school, some of the courses have similiar names but the content and the experience received are much different.

To the threadstarter, do you know what you want to do in life? If you want to go into something along the lines of accounting or IT auditing an MBA will not be necessary. MBAs from good schools do have significantly higher starting salaries, but you need work experience first and keep in mind that probably close to 99% of these MBA students are not interested in going into accounting.
