Advice on my major..

I really want to be an FBI agent. And, eventually, I know it would take a while, become a profiler. Or I at least want to be in the BAU.
What should I major in?

Accounting.

Almost all FBI cases involve money laundering and need qualified accountants to track the flow of money.

I’m in the same boat you are, OP :)

First you need to competitively qualify for the FBI…as the poster above said, accounting is a good option, as is having a JD, law enforcement, or intelligence background, or being well versed in a critical language…See [Federal Bureau of Investigation](http://www.fbijobs.gov/1112.asp) for more detailed information.

In order to be a profiler like we do, I’ve learned you need years of investigative experience in the FBI (I’m sure if you have it with other federal agencies it’d work too) and many of the agents they send to work there are: “Supervisory special agents and veteran police officers with advanced degrees in the behavioral science disciplines of psychology, criminology, sociology, and conflict resolution”.

([FBI — BSU](<a href=“Welcome to fbi.gov — FBI”>http://www.fbi.gov/about-us/training/bsu) gives you more details).

Personally, I’m hoping to double major in Psychology and either Russian or Arabic (with a minor in CJ or Psych. of Crime and Justice)…I think double major especially for what we want to do is the best way to go, as Psychology isn’t really a qualifying “hard science” field.

Hope this helped! :)
