Is it possible to get blacklisted by an college? I had a bad experience at Discover Wellesley, and was wondering how that might affect my application and whether or not it was still worth applying.
Please advise!
It depends upon the situation. If you got rip-roaring drunk, it could certainly impact your application.
Agree that it depends on what happened.
I didn’t do anything illegal, or wildly unethical, but I caused a minor inconvenience for one of the admissions staff members
Again, it depends on the inconvenience. I caused more than a minor inconvenience when I dislocated my shoulder I after tripping and falling in front of the Admissions Office. They were lovely about it, stayed with me until I got into an ambulance and called the next day to see how I was and to offer to send a shuttle to my hotel to bring me to the airport, etc., etc.). Didn’t adversely affect D’s admission.
If you lost a key or had some sort of a logistical issue (e.g., missed a tour or a shuttle or lost your cell phone and needed help finding it), it’s not something that would adversely affect your admissions – as long as you didn’t act like an entitled jerk, weren’t a total PITA, and you handled the whatever situation arose with grace, contrition, and maturity.
Unethical at all would torpedo your chances, most likely.
Spilling coffee, asking too many questions, etc…not an issue.
So, are you the kid who got drunk and vomited all over the Admissions office front steps, causing @LoveTheBard to then trip and fall and dislocate her shoulder, requiring an ambulance ride?
