Hi Guys!
So I’m an international applicant who’s hoping to apply to American colleges in the fall. I’ve been studying under the Cambridge curriculum and my stats are as follows
GCSEs (10 subjects): The courses I had selected were English Language, English Literature, Chemistry, Biology, Sociology, Physics, Math, English Literature, and Islamiyat. For these subjects I’ve scored 1A, 5 Bs, and 3 Cs.
I’m currently also studying for my A Levels, the subjects I have are Sociology, History, and Economics of which I have a predicted: A, A, B.
Although I think I can work this up to an A*, A, B.
My extra-curriculars are as follows:
- Student Council President.
- Founder of Model United Nations Society
- Model United Nations captain, with international wins at American conferences.
- Parliamentary debate team captain.
- Co-founded a public cleanup initiative.
- Founded the school ‘discussion circle’, which holds monthly meetings to deliberate upon different issues and create greater diversity of opinion on campus.
- ‘Best Entrepreneur’ winner at school business competition (with over 100 individuals competing)- - School newsletter editor, and also occasionally publish in local newspaper.
- Taught underprivileged as part of a community education program.
- Environmental fundraiser organizer
- Also volunteered at a welfare institution for the empowerment of girls education in my country.
- I have written and presented a research paper, which I would like to publish.
- I also intend to complete a business marketing as well as finance internship by fall.
Do keep in mind these are not all of my ECs, just the ones that come to mind and hopefully give you a good picture. I feel working with a team is where my strengths really shine, as I’m good at coordinating tasks and playing to individual strengths.
I intend to be a business major and do have a financial aid requirement. I understand my grades might not be the best but I could really use some guidance. In particular:-
- How do American colleges evaluate GCSEs?
- Are A levels and O level grades considered equally and do the number of courses taken make a difference?
- What would be some reach and safety colleges I might apply to, keeping in mind I intend to major in business and have a financial requirement.
If you need any clarifications or more information to provide a proper judgement, feel free to ask.
Thank You!
