Advice To Improve My Application For College Match? Rejected From CPS, I Want To Learn From It

Hey so I just learned today that I got rejected from College Prep Scholarship. Yeah. sigh. I feel really bummed out, and I just feel like I'm not good enough for a top college anymore. However, I want to learn from this experience, and try and improve my chances. It's really disappointing, but it's motivating me to work even harder. Here are my stats that I posted a while ago for all the world to see: Please give me advice, and do you know anyone who won the College Match even though they were rejected from College Prep or something similar?

Please & Thank You

OP, your stats are great – so far. It is hard to say what to improve since there is no SAT score yet, and there is only one AP score at this time. Your ECs and GPA are wonderful and you are first generation. Don’t get discouraged!!! You are motivated enough to continue this road, and don’t let any bumps along the way stop you.

I hope you use CC often and ask for advice, there are really experienced posters who are eager to help you succeed. Have you gotten a fee waiver from your GC for the ACT or the SATs yet? If not, talk to him/her ASAP!

As you figure out which colleges you are interested in and what your area of study might be (for example, hard sciences, languages, etc) we can help you more.

Best of luck!

Hi! Thank you for the reply
I was really bummed about it, but now I’m super motivated to do even better.
I’m gonna take my SAT in two weeks, so hopefully that will go well (and yup I got a waiver)
Rice University is the college that I really want to go to, and I’m probably going to go into a science related major.

Thanks again for the encouragement!

Any more advice on what I can do to make my application stronger will be greatly appreciated. :)

You don’t have any scores yet so it is hard to judge that area. Once you do get scores that could help (but know that QB doesn’t seem to put a lot of weight on scores). Look back on your essays and reflect on the quality of them. Was there something you could have done to improve them? If the answer to that is yes, then start working on them. Also think about whether or not you should ask somebody else for your rec next time. Also I would try and get a job this summer if I were you, QB likes to see that applicants are working at least a little bit.
