Advice to Juniors/Sophomores

I think it is a good idea to have seniors, uva students, etc to give advice to those that are going to apply to uva next year. It would be nice for them to hear from people who have gone through the process.

Just gathering from stuff Dean J has said specifically: challenging courses for your senior year but make sure you have solid first semester grades, don’t drop core classes, and make sure your essays aren’t cliche and prove your passion about UVA! I was admitted EA this year :)

What did you take senior year? @kickemoff

AP Physics, AP Statistics, AP French, AP Literature, and AP Government

My D is taking four AP her junior year. I sure hope she doesn’t have to take four or five her senior year because this year has been brutal. She has seven cores of which four are APs, two are foreign language and the last is precalc. Someone asked me what her electives were and I thought for a second and said, “I guess AP Psych and Latin 3”

This academic arms race is out of control. :(

I took 5 APs senior year but no electives. She could take one of each core her senior year and get some free periods by not taking other classes
