I’m so confused. So, I got into BU today into the College of Arts and Sciences, but that was a last minute decision and I really think that I want to do business or something with education. Now, I also got into Northeastern but into this program called “NUin program”. What this entails is pretty much I have to go to a study abroad for the fall semester, then attend NU in january. I don’t have that much of a problem with going abroad, it’s just missing out on the beginning part of college at the actual college. I realize I will make friends at the program but it still really confuses me on what I should do. I guess I have a few questions:

Is it hard to change your major, meaning like switching your school at BU? Like I might want to change from CAS into the business college.

In my shoes, would you go to this NUin program over BU?

In your opinion, which school is better, NU or BU?

I’m really confused and any advice would be really appreciated.

You should definitely talk to someone at BU about this, but I am under the impression that it is not that difficult to switch schools or to double major across schools. This was a big factor in my daughter applying and one of the reasons she is seriously considering going now that she is accepted. If a current student or parent knows differently, I would like to hear about it as well. I certainly don’t think it is like BC where you cant even take classess in the Carroll School as an arts and sciences student.

I don’t know what to tell you about Northeastern. They had a huge jump in applications this year apparently and several of my D’s friends are wondering about the NUin program as well. You are right, you will make friends in the program, but you are basically going to go through two semesters of adjustment as opposed to one. I, myself would consider that a serious downside unless there is a really compelling reason to attend Northeastern.

Switching majors at BU is very easy. You can do it now or at orientation. It really is not a big deal. As far as NUin, there are a couple of threads in the Northeastern forum about it, lots of info and opinions. Congratulations on your acceptance to BU CAS!

Is it hard to change your major, meaning like switching your school at BU? Like I might want to change from CAS into the business college.
Not hard at all, you’ll just complete your freshman requirements-- we don’t even have to declare majors until end of sophomore year anyways!

I wouldn’t. It would feel so strange to not be going in to college at the same time as my friends were going. Plus, I want to experience college first before I go abroad!

In your opinion, which school is better, NU or BU?
BU. period :)
