I just transferred into a university and am applying to a school within it. I would only have one semester of grades in my application, and I am struggling in a class. Would it look bad if I got a W in this class to maintain my GPA, or should I stay in this class and risk getting a bad grade?
Generally, I say that it’s better to get a “W” vs a grade lower than a B-. If you think that you can take a B- or better, then I would say that you should stay in the class. If you don’t think so, I think it is better to take a W to preserve your GPA.
With that said, if you have a lot of W’s especially in one semester/time frame, it looks bad so that’s something to consider as well. Good luck!
Is the class directly related to your major or just general ed?
@philbegas This class is not related to my major at all. I would also be dropping to a part time student if I dropped this class.
