Advice

Hi, I just completed my first semester of college and my GPA ended up being 3.2, is this bad? I am wanting to be a civil engineer. I took 13 credit hours.

It’s fine. Most feel the threshold, very broadly, for having access to the most jobs is 3.0. There are some that require a higher GPA, and certainly LOTS of practicing engineers who had power GPAs. If there’s something you can fix to be more efficient in your studies, by all means do. The most important thing though is that you walked away with a solid understanding of the concepts as your following classes will build on that information. Good luck.

A 3.2 is a “decent” GPA in engineering, and you still have ostensibly 7 semesters over which that can change. You are doing just fine.
