Advising on Decision-Engineering

Son’s top 3 choices are Clemson, Auburn and A&M. A&M is closest and most familiar in general due to family history, but curious to thoughts/perceptions from others with more familiarity with others and familiar with engineering programs/career options. Cost is not a deciding factor.

Look at what it takes to get into the major at each school.

Even as a UT grad, I say go for A&M! It’s an excellent school.

Which A&M (Alabama, Florida, Prairie View, Texas)?

Cost and admission to major?

I would say AggieHouston name points to TAMU as my guess.

OP. Look at costs too.

The other two schools may offer an incredible experience for you. They certainly have their own alumni network strengths.

But if being an Aggie is less money, it’s the better choice. It may be without that critical factor too. And I am not taking into account all of the personal factors you will have in the decision. I.e. - charting your own path than your family members and friends, breaking away from the Texas bubble, too many friends going and not feeling unique, the better social scene & campus life perceptions, prettier campus/facilities or better football teams. Naturally, these are not your thoughts and none of these may apply. Just a few ideas that I could think of but you have your own of course.

These types of thoughts are all legitimate personal feelings and could be true for you.

I’m speaking purely in education, financial discipline and great reputations of all your choices being equal.

And if you plan on staying in Texas, as a personal preference, the obvious alumni networks and contacts at TAMU down the road shouldn’t be overlooked. :)>-
