advisory at the big 4

Hi everyone ! I just wanted to know more info about the advisory positions offered at the big 4 and what majors do they normally hire from. What kind of stats do you need to get into that field and do they hire undergrads usually. All information will be greatly appreciated!

Look in the other accounting thread on here about the big 4. Second to last page. I give a lot of information that could be useful to you.

Your GPA needs to be a 3.7-4.0 to have a chance in advisory. You need to be extroverted and be able to represent the firm well with the client interactions. Advisory positions are smaller but in higher demand than probably any other position. The overall quality of candidates is much higher than audit/tax.

You guys don’t even know advisory is. They changed things around drastically.

Is this in reference to me?

lol dawgie

A very important detail that seems to be forgotten is the different areas within advisory play completely different roles.

IT/Risk Advisory is basically Audit support roles with SAS 70 reports and the like. I would not really consider this to be true “advisory” or “consulting”

Transactions Services can do M&A and a variety of other finance related issues.

Performance has a range of possible roles and is more of a true “consulting” operation.

In general, none of these “advisory” jobs do upper level strategy like at Bain, BCG, McKinsey.
