Aerial combat in the war against terrorism

ahhh that'd be a dream come true right there, forget the F22s F35s and F16s! i want the A-10! hahaha ;) it all starts in < 2 months!

If you want the A-10, we can connect you with one of our very best friends in the world. He left the A-10 many moons ago, but still loves the jet, he flew it in DSI. Bullet's old commander also became the Wing King for the 10's, he will be back here for beach week in less then a month.

Good Luck...Aim High...G*d Speed

By any chance, is bullet's old bud Wing King at Davis-Monthan? I recall the commander there (smaller guy) that briefed us was an F-15 pilot in England in 2001.

YES! HE graduated in 81? He was Bullets squadron commander..and if you think of a duck in re to his call sign that is him...He retired @2 yrs ago

Hum, must be his replacement. I'm thinking Col Laughbaum who was there a year ago and is still active. He is an '83 grad of Texas A&M ROTC.

Precision bombing and close air support I would think...

Witht the war in Iraq and Afgahanistan becoming more of a guerilla fight, I'd say that they aren't used as much.

Does Iran have a large air force? I could see us having to fight them sooner or later.

They have a rather large force. Including modern fighters like MiG-29s and some older fighters like the F-4 and F-5 from us (to the Shah). They also have the F-14, but those are breaking down these days...

The military channel has been showing "Operation Anaconda" over the last week. This showcases the efforts of a combined group of Navy, Army, AF spec ops in Afgahnistan. During the operation a Navy Seal from Davis Ca. fell from the back of a chinook helicopter. The Seal was captured and killed. In the battle that ensued several more Spec Operators lost their lives. Including AF PJ Jason Cunnigham and AF Combat Controller Tsgt Chapman.

During this battle several close air support runs were made by F-15's led by "Junior" Short and F-16 runs by "Divot" Bartley. They dropped bombs within the "Danger Close" area. This was one example of how the Air Force continues to work in the conflicts we face today.

i ask this because i know there are those who believe that our investing billions of dollars on new and improved jets is a waste.

To put it simply, they are mistaken.

Gravely mistaken, and your job will be that much harder because "those who believe" are about to take complete control of our nation. Your challenges will be that much more difficult, and support for any actions you may take will be very limited. The military will likely go through another reduction in size, and will definetly see it's influence reduced.

I do not say this as a politcal statement. My politics lay with the military. The reason we have the freedoms we have is becuase for generations men and women have been willing to stand in the breach. As a nation we have amnesia with regards to the cost of our freedom, and I fear we will pay a great cost for that. The only advantage we have today is those weapons and planes that provides us the edge.

yes, i believe with what you said ds- america needs to wake up!

now that i think about it, the air force is pretty dang powerful and important with regards that last statement you made.
