aero or mech

I can't decide on which one to put as my first choice on the application. I want to major in aeronautical and just work on planes, but I don't know what job oppportunities there will be later. Mechanical is a safe choice, but I don't really want to learn anything else that doesn't relate to planes. I know I'll at least get a job. any advice, so what should I do?

Hypothetically, you can get a degree in both, if you choose your school carefully. Some programs allow you to get a BS in both because many of he classes overlap.

However, I would choose Mechanical.

Mechanical is traditionally the safer major but it seems that you really want to focus on ASE and don't want to waste your time studying anything else.

With that said--go ASE and excel in it.

maybe I should just flip a coin lol. If I do major in mech, then will I still be able to get a job in the aerospace industry just like I would if I had an aerospace degree?

Well, it depends on the job...many MEs do work in Aerospace though.

If all you want to do is work with planes, then I don't see why this is a hard decision. Go with AE.

If you are absolutely sure you want to work in the Aero industry then do AE. I always recommend Mechancal Engineering to those who are not 100% sure.

If you want to work in the Aerospace Industry and exclusively on planes,

an ASE degree would be better than a ME.

If you have any seed of doubt that you don't--go ME.

Yes, with an ME you can still be hired to do Aerospace work but I can imagine you would be at a disadvantage compared to an ASE grad.
